- Join us for the 2nd Annual Fort Hamer Bridge Run. This healthy, family-oriented event features a 5k (3.1 miles), 10K, One Mile Walk, and Children’s Races. This year the 5k and 10K runners are being treated to a new route that traverses over the 4,544 foot Fort Hamer Bridge then into the Waterlefe subdivision to their signature circle, and then back over the bridge. The 5k finishes at the Fort Hamer County Park. The 10k continues into the River Wilderness Subdivision then back to the Park where both the 5k and 10k finisher will receive a commemorative medal fashioned by the providers to the Boston Marathon. The One Mile Walkers will make their u-turn at the crest of the bridge or have the option to proceed over the bridge and back.
- Chip timing by Lakeshore Athletic Service (official providers to the Chicago Marathon) and Leslie Jordan moisture wicking shirts in gender sizes to the first 2,100 registered. Special crafted awards to winners and categories three deep from 9 & under to 80+.
- Race Festivities include:
- A sensational after party that features food samplings from eleven plus area restaurants as well as adult beverages with proper ID is open to all registrants. Friends and family members can purchase a food band to enjoy the offerings. Sponsors and vendors will have booths with give- aways and information on their products. The YMCA will have kids activities and Manatee County Youth Rowing will have tours of the boathouse along with ERG’s (rowing machines) set up for you to simulate a rowing experience.
